  1. Years of Experience – As Julius Ceaser said, and I quote “Experience is the teacher of all things.” There’s no doubt in anybody’s mind that as you get more experienced and gain more real-world exposure, you become a much valuable As a result, as your experience level increases, your salary also gets higher.
  2. Communication skills – You will be interacting with a bunch of contrasting characters in your career with the Aviation Industry. Be it Wailing babies, cranky adults, snooty businessmen or South Delhi Aunties, all of them will be in your care from the moment they enter the flight. And you need to make sure that you can communicate with all of them fluently (well, not exactly with the babies – But you can give it a shot). For this reason, Communication skills are considered a major factor in the placement process by the companies.

  1. Status of the Airline company – The bigger the company, the higher the pay scale they offer. To know how can you become a desirable candidate for such companies check out my article Your Go-To guide to becoming an Airhostess | Salary, Eligibility, Course Fees and More.

Types of Airlines:

Your salary will also be dependent on the type of Airline company you work for: Domestic or Foreign. It is no industry secret that the foreign airlines pay much higher than the Domestic ones, this is because these companies require employees with specific linguistic skills and deep cultural understanding, these traits are necessary to handle the day to day needs of the various passengers.

Now, the Airlines can also be characterized as:

  • Full-service Carriers – These Airlines offer complimentary meals, Alcohol and other types of beverages to the passengers. They also feature Business class and first-class services. FSCs operate on long, inter-continental routes. Meaning you get allowances for your stay overseas.

Some of the top employers in this Airline type is:

  1. Air India
  2. Vistara
  3. Jet Airways

  • Low-Cost Carriers – These Airlines only offer complimentary water, and the passengers have to pay money to get meals and beverages. Not many LCCs travel to foreign companies, so the scope to earn extra allowance is quite limited here.

Top employers in this Airline type are:

  1. Air India Express
  2. IndiGo
  3. SpiceJet
  4. GoAir
  5. AirAsia India

The following table will also give you an idea regarding the pay range you can expect if you join any one of the following companies:

Vistara 30050

  1. Status of the Air Hostess Academy – Your Personal brand pays a significant role in determining the zeroes on your paycheck. And in the Aviation Industry, the one easy way to build your brand is to be associated with a big Air Hostess Training Academy. It is highly probable that you’ll join the Airline industry as a flight attendant. In that case, you can expect to draw a basic salary, and after completing two years of service and completing Flight Duty Time Limitation, you’ll get a pay rise.

You can expect promotions in the following categories in the following order:

  • Senior Purser:You can become a senior pursuer after working 3 or four years as cabin crew.
  • Cabin Service Supervisor:After gaining experience of more than four years while working as a cabin crew member, you can get promoted as a cabin crew supervisor.
  • Cabin Service Director:And after completing five years or more as cabin crew they can ultimately be promoted as Cabin service Director.

However, you need to remember that these designations are just common standards and they may vary with the guidelines of different companies.
